Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, CEO of the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), inaugurated the third batch of the Masters program in Energy Systems and Technologies of the Future, which DEWA is implementing in collaboration with the University of California at Berkeley ( UC Berkeley).
Dean Tsu Jae King Liu of UC Berkeley College of Engineering attended; program director, Professor Tarek Zohdi; UC Berkeley Professor Khalid Mosallam and DEWA officials. The third batch has 50 DEWA employees, while 95 employees have already benefited from the first two batches.
In his speech at the virtual launch, Al Tayer congratulated DEWA staff for joining Group 3 and expressed satisfaction with the progress of the program. He also praised UC Berkeley and its faculty for working with DEWA to build a prosperous future for DEWA and UAE engineers. “This program is part of our efforts to realize the vision and guidance of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, to make Dubai a global city and futuristic.

Al Tayer said that DEWA designed the program, in collaboration with UC Berkeley, for Emirati employees to achieve a unique and futuristic master’s program that supports its continued efforts to solidify the position of the United Arab Emirates and Dubai as a plaque. leading turning point to shape the future.

Dr Yousef Al Akraf, executive vice president of business support and human resources at DEWA, ââexplained that the study programs cover future energy disciplines that combine research and practice.
These include advanced analysis of power systems, power electronics, systems controls and protection, artificial intelligence and machine learning, cybersecurity, systems renewable energy production and integration, integrated resource planning, grid automation, and water desalination and distribution technology.
DEWA launched the Master in Future Energy Systems & Technology in cooperation with UC Berkeley in 2019. This supports the national strategy to empower young Emiratis and prepare them for leadership positions in various fields.
