The Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB), as part of its digital learning initiative, has launched a Professional Certificate Course in Hospital Management.
The 12-month synchronous online program that combines Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) will feature classes taught by IIMB faculty, as well as live online sessions by industry experts and professionals .
The program aims to benefit medical professionals, middle managers, health consultants, entrepreneurs, business leaders, etc.
Launching the course, Minister of Health and Medical Education Dr K Sudhakar said he was proud that a leading institute like IIMB had taken the initiative to conceptualize a curriculum that would benefit the health sector across the country.
“Corporate hospitals are professionally managed because they have better managers. In terms of investment, the government spends a lot on infrastructure and maintenance, but the private sector is more efficient. That’s why I want that all doctors in public hospitals be trained in administration,” he said. said.
Dr. Devi Shetty, chairman of the IIMB board of governors and founding president of the Narayana Group of Hospitals, said doctors who run 30- and 50-bed nursing homes in Tier 1 and Tier 3 cities need serious help with management and administration.
