Many people passing by the northwest corner of State Hwy. 34 and County 4 asked about the new development going on there.
On January 25 this year Park Rapids City Council approved a conditional use permit for Fred and Debbie Dally of Dorset to develop a mini golf course on approximately two acres of their 13.65 acre property at this place.
In a phone interview, Debbie explained that it would be a 36-hole putting challenge, or rather two 18-hole courses separated by a clubhouse. The courses will be named Buzz’s and Birdie’s, and feature a western theme.
“All the contractors have been so nice to us,” Debbie said.
The courses were designed and are being built by Harris Miniature Golf Courses, Inc. of Scranton, Pennsylvania.
Other contractors involved in the project include Northwoods Home Services of Park Rapids, Levi Durgin Electric of Nevis, Maxx Concrete of Menahga, Lindow Plumbing of Nevis, Northern Paving of Bemidji, Elavsky Excavating & Septic of Akeley, Avalon Sculpture of Merrifield , Touch of Eden Park Rapids Landscaping, Walker North Engineering, Akeley’s Don Umthun Septic Design and Inspection, and Walker’s Freeman Well Drilling.
“We plan to open in the spring,” Debbie said. “It will be a good thing, I think, for the community.”
